So on Friday afternoon it was reported that the online encyclopedia, Wikipedia, was knocked offline by a DDOS attack. The cyber attack rendered millions of users from Europe to the Middle East stranded.
According to Wikimedia’s German Twitter account, it reads “We condemn these sort of attacks. They’re just about taking Wikipedia offline. Takedown attacks threaten everyone’s fundamental rights to freely access and share information.
We in the Wikipedia movement and Foundation are committed to protecting these rights for everyone.”
Wikipedia are still fighting to bring their systems back online but for now they remain offline in places like Poland, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom.
