So users of the dating site okCupid have complained of their accounts being hacked yet the site denies it has experienced any data breach. Reports has it that a user filed a complaint saying his account was hacked and his password and email were all changed, “Unfortunately, we’re not able to provide any details about accounts not connected to your email address,” said OkCupid’s customer service in response to his complaint.
It was even gathered that the hacker began harassing the user via text message from his phone number he got from one of his private messages(now that bad).
This was not the only incident, reporters said they got lots of complaints from other users saying the same thing, despite all these okCupid
still denied it experienced a data breach. “There has been no security breach at OkCupid,” said Natalie Sawyer, a spokesperson for OkCupid. “All websites constantly experience account takeover attempts. There has been no increase in account takeovers on OkCupid. In fact, the company says on its support pages that account takeovers often happen because someone obtains a user’s login information. “If you use the same password on several different sites or services, then your accounts on all of them have the potential to be taken over if one site has a security breach.”
