I guess we are all familiar with the name, Jack Dorsey, Twitter’s CEO who began programming while still in high school. He was said to have written a dispatch software which many taxi companies still use now.
Whenever he’s not in an electronic stores or at a football game with his friends, his attending a punk-rock concert.
Dorsey met his fellow Twitter cofounders at a podcasting company where he worked called Odeo. His first shot at Twitter was a prototype he built in 2000 which lets him update his friends on his life through Blackberry and email messaging.
But no one seemed too interested in what it is then, so he actually paused the whole thing to go work with Odeo. But in 2006, Odeo went out of business and that was when Dorsey returned back to his messaging project and just like that, Bam, Twitter was born.
He posted the first Tweet on Twitter using his very simple handle, @jack. Jack had to make some adjustments to make him look more like a CEO. Like first he had to get rid of the spiky hair and also get rid of the Nose ring.
He didn’t stay too long as CEO before Williams took over and then he (jack) was moved to chairman of Twitter’s board. Not too long after the success of Twitter Jack started a new project, Foursquare, and payment start-up called Square.
So here’s the interesting thing about the whole story, Twitter went public in November of 2013 and jack became a billionaire just within hours after it launched.👑💲💵
