So according to reports coming in, a couple of social media sites have been banned in Sri Lanka after it deadly Terror attack.
Sites including Facebook, whatsapp and YouTube have all been restricted for now.
In an interview session by the presidential advisor Harindra Dassanayake, he said “this was a unilateral decision.” They said that the restriction was done over concerns that the attack is likely to trigger another wave of widespread misinformation, hate speech, and violence.
Facebook and some other social media platforms have in recent years come under scrutiny over their roles in the spread of misinformation and hoaxes that fuel violence.
