He said in a tweet that “The phone comes with this protective layer/film. Samsung says you are not supposed to remove it, I removed it, not knowing you’re not supposed to (consumers won’t know either). It appeared removable in the left corner, so I took it off. I believe this contributed to the problem.”
Samsung responded by saying that “its phone is manufactured with a special protective layer,” which is mean’t to protect the plastic infinity Flex display. They went on to say that “it not a screen protector so please do not attempt to remove it.”
Dieter Bohn of The Verge also reported the same issue saying that his own Galaxy Fold review unit also broke after he peeled off the plastic film.
