Although the separate internet is still just an idea, we might be seeing it come to reality really soon.
Recall that earlier this year Russia said something about unplugging itself from the internet to test if they could defend cyberattack.
But the test didn’t quite work out as Russians in Moscow came out to protest for their online freedom. This separate internet might face the Same fate.
A Russian representative in it embassy said that the point of the separate internet or rather Runet, as it called, would provide a “stable operation for the Russian internet in case it is ever disconnected from the global infrastructure of the World Wide Web.”
