So Facebook’s Libra project has been hit by yet another major problem as a mobile banking app called Current, is suing the social network’s cryptocurrency “Calibra” for using similar logo as theirs.(what!)
Calibra logo sued
According to Current, Calibra’s logo is not just similar to theirs but also has identical marks as that of Current. (Wow… what a coincidence)
It doesn’t end there, what makes it more interesting is the fact that both logos was designed by one San Francisco branding firm Character.
Also it was reported that Current filed an application for their logo on June 26th which is just a few days after Calibra was introduced to the world.
Current CEO Stuart Sopp told CNBC that he actually made mention of the logos similarities as soon as Calibra was introduced but nobody listened.
He also said that Current worked with Character for as long as six months before they came up with that logo. “Facebook has all the money in and resources to make banking more inclusive and fair, they should’ve come up with their own ideas and branding,
Facebook’s Libra has been experiencing some great lose recently from PayPal’s exit earlier this month, to eBay and Stripe also following following suit.
MasterCard and Visa also just announced their withdrawal from the project and now Current is coming with this logo allegations. (Libra sure is in a lot heat right now)
What so you think, do actually think Facebook knew the logo was already taken or was it just a coincidence? Let us know what yoi think down in the comment section.
