So recently there have been some mass shooting incidents going on around the world mostly in America, and lawmakers are putting the blame on “video games.”
But the CEO of one of the largest gaming gaming companies is opposing their claims saying that the mass shootings are “uniquely American” problem.
CEO of Take-Two interactive Strauss Zelnick, during an interview session with “Barrons” said that everyone around the world enjoyed playing video games (so true) and that the issue of mass shootings was “uniquely an American” problem.
The U.S has suffered a massive 250 mass shootings deaths in 2019 and we are just 220 days into the year, so if you do the math you’ll see that there’s big trouble.😉
President Trump and other lawmakers have blamed the mass shootings on video games, white supremacy and mental health issues. The most recent incident is that of El Paso which claimed 31 lives.
Strauss Zelnick went on to say that;
“We’re just sickened and saddened by this senseless tragedies. That said, blaming entertainment is irresponsible. Moreover it is highly disrespectful to the victims and their families. The fact is entertainment is consumed worldwide…but gun violence is uniquely American. So we need to address the real issues.”(The guns)
Take-Two is the company behind some of our hit games like “Grand Theft Auto” and “Red Dead Redemption.” Other gaming companies criticized due to their realistic guns violence includes EA games for “Battlefield” and Activision for “Call of Duty.”
As a matter of fact, research shows that countries whose citizens spend more revenue per capita on video games suffer from fewer gun deaths compared to the United States.😲🔫
