When asked whether he feels responsible for our ongoing national disinformation, he didn’t answer rather be found a way to dodge the question.

According to Zuckerberg “I certainly feel responsible for how our platforms are used, certainly feel responsible for how our platforms are used, they’re used in a lot of different ways. That going to be studied by academics and historians for a long time to come, what the overall effect is…This is a lot of effect.”

He went on to say that “Obviously, one of the bad ones is nation-States trying to interfere in our democracy, and that we need to push back on.”

When asked what Facebook was doing to help prevent other countries from snooping in the U.S. elections, Zuckerberg said that they have taken down four foreign interference campaigns which they suspect is from Russia.

According to reports, one of the campaigns was linked to a Russian operation called the Internet Research Agency. They are a very popular troll farm which are been accused of running disinformation campaigs.

Back in 2016 during the elections, they were said to have created a campaign that involved 50 fake Instagram accounts and a Facebook account that has 246,000 followers.

Zuckerberg responded to this by saying that “We do see Russia and Iran and China increasingly with more sophisticated tactics are trying to interfere in elections.

He continued by saying that “But part of why I’m confident going into 2020 is that we’ve played a role in defending against interference in every major election around the world since 2016, in France, in Germany, in the EU overall, in India, Mexico, in Brazil.”

Mark Zuckerberg also explained why politicians like Donald Trump could come out and trash-talk openly or use racial slurs in political ads on Facebook, “I believe that it is important for people to be able to hear and see what politicians are saying. I think that when they do that, that speech will be heavily scrutinized by other journalists, by other people.”

To end his interview session, Mark was asked how he felt about his children going into the Internet he helped created and he said “I’ve been in the public eye since I was 19, and a lot of my personal experience has been that people say a lot f false things about you… Look, historically I’ve had a very hard time expressing myself.”

He went on to say that “I just come across as robotic. This is one of the things that in growing up I need to get, I need to get better at running this company.”
