Dogecoin experienced a massive surge in popularity when people of power like Elon Musk and celebrities like Meek Mill endorsed it. In a Tweet Musk said he strongly believed in crypto and that “it can’t drive a massive increase in fossil fuel use, especially coal.”
Although his tweet came just after his electric car company Tesla suspended Bitcoin as a means of payment for their vehicles. Also know that Bitcoin is the largest and oldest cryptocurrency in the world, and Tesla invested a massive $1.5 billion earlier this year.
Now after the Shibetoshi tweet, fans began questioning him and then the Dogecoin co-creator decided to clear the air by saying his tweet simply implied “aw man, you right, environment stuff.”
A user @TerrysFishyTips asked Markus if he actually had energy usage in consideration when creating the digital money. In his words he said “Or was that not something you thought about? How can the dev community make doge more efficient?”
In his defense, Markus said he created Dogecoin in just two hours and didn’t consider anything at all.
Now later in the day, Elon Musk who crowned himself “Dogefather” tweeted that he was in works with the developers of Dogecoin to enhance system transaction and efficiency.
