So if you can recall sometime last year, it was reported that Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou was arrested in Vancouver, Canada over alleged violations of U.S. trade sanctions with Iran. Well this week the canadian government said it was gonna allow for her extradition to proceed.
The officials at the DOJ of canada has issued, a proclamation that officially begins the extradition process, which could send Wanzhou to the U.S. to face charges. Wanzhou is said to be at the center of the feud going on between the smartphone maker and the US government.
In January, an indictment was unsealed linking Wanzhou to alleged bank fraud designed to help the company circumvent U.S./Iranian sanctions. In a statement by the canadian DOJ, it reads “The decision follows a thorough and diligent review of the evidence in this case,” “The Department is satisfied that the requirements set out by the Extradition Act for the issuance of an Authority to Proceed have been met and there is sufficient evidence to be put before an extradition judge for decision.”
They went forth to say that this was just the first step to the extracdition pricess. Remember some weeks back Wanzhou father and also founder of the company said in a statement that “The US cant crush them“, well i guess we will just have to wait and see who comes out victorious. The almighty US government or The courageous Huawei.
